Donny a déclaré dans un documentaire de la BBC intitulé Donny Osmond Coming Home que certaines de ses ancêtres familiales sont liées à la ville de Merthyr Tydfil au Pays de Galles. Après la diffusion du documentaire, une plaque honorifique a été dévoilée dans la ville pour marquer la révélation.
Ses 2 frères aînés, Alan et Thomas, sont sourds et l'un de ses neveux est malentendant. Il a révélé dans une interview que tous les membres de The Osmonds avaient l' habitude de communiquer en langue des signes pour diriger leurs performances musicales de manière transparente.
Il a animé Pyramid , un jeu télévisé souscrit aux États-Unis (2002-2004), et une version britannique en 2007. Pour son travail, il a été nominé pour un Daytime Emmy Award pour «Outstanding Game Show Host» (2003).
Donny et sa jeune soeur Marie Osmond ont commencé à présenter un spectacle de résidence de 90 minutes au Flamingo Hotel de Las Vegas intitulé Donny & Marie en septembre 2008, qui est devenu si populaire qu'il a duré 11 ans, jusqu'en novembre 2019.
